FC Seoul vs Jeonbuk Hyundai player ratings - 20/04/24

Seoul shoot themselves in the foot as winless run continues. What went wrong?

Choi Chul-won: (1) I’m sure he is as tired of making these silly mistakes as we are at condemning them. Absolute amateur performance from him today and he’s lost his points yet again. At blame for the first two goals in an utterly embarrassing performance. Shouldn’t be at the club, it’s as simple as that.

Kang Sang-woo: (6) Really struggled today on the defensive side of things. Caught going forward a little too often and left us vulnerable at times.

Hwang Hyun-soo: (7) Decent enough performance before the collapse. Could be getting back to the type of player he was in his glory days.

Kwon Wan-kyu: (6) The usual score for him. Not great with the ball at his feet and looked shaky when Jeonbuk were on the attack.

Choi Jun: (7) Was misplacing passes all over the place in the first half, but did brilliantly to keep the ball in for Palo’s goal.

Ryu Jae-moon: (5) Struggled massively against his old club. Was unable to stem the flow from midfield and was eventually subbed out.

Ki Sung-yueng: (9) Had a brilliant game, despite the result. Marched the team forward with some excellent passing and got stuck into the Jeonbuk players at every opportunity. Is still an unbelievable player when he’s in the mood M.O.T.M.

Aleksandar Palocevic: (7) Took his goal brilliantly with a neat toe-poked finish as we took the lead. Faded out of the game slightly afterwards, however.

Stanislav Iljutcenko: (8) Brilliant header to get us back level and went close to adding another, if it weren’t for the VAR officials. Good shift.

Willyan: (6) Quiet one from him today. Struggled to get his dribbling game going in the poor weather conditions.

Cho Young-wook: (7) Showed some good quality as he worked hard down the wing, and laid on a lovely assist for Palo’s goal.

Subs:

Son Seung-beom: (7) Was robust with the ball at his feet and looked to use his physicality to beat his marker. Decent from the youngster.

Kim Jin-ya: (7) Looked dangerous after coming on and played some clever touches as he got forward.

Park Dong-jin: (5) Didn’t have very long but went close with a good header.

Hwang Do-yun: (6) Not enough time to make an impact.

Manager: (5) Questions already starting to be asked about whether he’s up to the job, although he can’t really be held responsible for what the position the keeper kept putting us in today. If he continues to use said goalkeeper, then I feel he has nobody to blame but himself as it’s only a matter of time until he makes a similar mistake again.
